One of the first questions we ask a client ringing up for an appointment is, “Are you able to provide us a covered area to work under?”
WHY? Because the temperature both on the outside and inside the car is often so hot that the Car Care products become ineffective! For example, if we are trying to clean the windows, the window cleaner actually evaporates before we get a chance to wipe the glass with a cloth. Car polish too suffers from a very similar problem in that it cannot be worked over the surface of the paintwork because it dries (goes off) too quickly. You will generally find that all brands of car care products make a statement regarding how to use their product.
Another issue is what we refer to as “water bead etching” that is seen on both paintwork and glass. As hard as it to imagine, a water bead in the direct sun acts like a magnifying glass and therefore causes this type of damage. Once again, a covered area enable us to chamois off a car straight after it has been washed and avoid leaving a mark on the paintwork or glass.
Of course, we will also ensure that the person detailing the car for you is not working directly under the sun and therefore being exposed to extreme heat conditions for obvious reasons!
Hopefully this quick explanation helps you to understand how conditions will affect the end result of a car detail!
Cheers for now!
